Fished yesterday top end for gummies got only one keeper and 2 throw backs, so tried much further down around Cowes for nothing until finally giving up.
Had a go at the Whiting, around Tortoise head in last 2 hours of flood got 33 Whiting 31cm - 44cm most around 35cm all taken on pippie.

| Can concur with the last report WP still has plenty of whiting. We fished this arvo from 4 pm till 6:30 pm and managed 43 ting to 45 cm, again majority about 35 cm Torritse head bank. Baits used cuttlefish and mussels with cuttlie winning in the end. Water was a bit dirtier than I'd expect after all the relatively calm dry weather we have had. |

| fished in western port 1st time today, launched off stoney pt, went across to the south end of middle spit & tried the edge of the channel then just on the shallow flats in around 2 metres, only got 4 whiting but nice fat ones (about 38 cm). got hammered by grass whiting (?) & leatheries, tried moving but no change. ended up going for a look up north & sat off Joes Is. for a few hours over the last of the ebb tide & start of flood hoping for a gummy, no luck, got an elephant & a big ray which cleaned me up. so all in all pretty quiet but still got a small feed of whiting & leatheries & enjoyed our first look at western port & will definitely be back. hey Ribbit pretty sure I saw your boat out there somewhere near the channel off hastings maybe, how did you go today ? |

I took my brother out for some Ting Monday. The whiting are still going beautifully.
We fished the last hour and a half of the run out on the spit we got 26 with not one fish under 34cm in our bag with one fish going 45cm. A nice quick tide turn and we got the last of our bag within 45 minutes of a bit of run. Again all fish were 34+ and my brother caught the twin of my 45cm fish.
All fish were caught on freshish squid and circles out fished standard long shank.
You know the Ting are going well when the fish you throw back are above 30cm. Absolutley perfect conditions and it was good to get my brother onto some fish. |
