Hi Mattg and ironmaiden as we do service all makes and models prices can vary depending on the cost of the parts as we do prefer to use genuine parts. Also there is a standard list of parts that is required to be change on a 100hr or yearly service. From time to time extra parts may be needed eg. anodes, thermostats that dont need to be changed every service which can increase the cost of the service. We would charge approx $695 for a service on a 4CYL 4-stroke this would inc, plugs, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, gear oil and washers, impellor. As part of the service we do check anodes and thermstats, compressions, trailer, bearings, brakes and lights and report on. So 15% off is approx $590. Wouldnt normally post pricing as no doubt will get hug up and wipped regardless, just thought i would save you the phone call. Cheers Phil. _________________ www.portphillipboatingcentre.com.au |

Hi,
Price is important but workmanship is the MOST IMPORTANT factor.
PPBC recently did the 100 hour service on my Yamaha 150 4 stroke.
I am a very fussy bugger and must say that the workmanship performed was 1st class, I know what I am talking about because I am a qualified mechanic.
I certainly would not be looking for the cheapest price, rather a fair price for 1st class workmanship. I would not take my boat anywhere else, for me it is a 120 kilometre round trip to have my boat serviced at PPBC and it is worth it.
Cheers,
Nick. |

This is a serious question.......
If you are not there watching what they do when they do it what first class workmanship do you actually see when you go and pick it up
Not doubting that they are very good |

Hi Ruff.
I wasn't going to respond to your question but I will as I have nothing to hide. Being fussy and working at a car dealership for over 10 years you could say I know the "tricks" you may have been referring to.
Yes, I checked everything over that had to be attended to for the 100 hr service and all was in order, ie filters replaced, etc, you could tell that the leg had been removed by the slight socket marks on the bolts etc. All parts replaced were returned to me. The engine was super clean and well greased, and clean eng oil etc.
They even replaced a LED light on my trailer under warranty (Mackay) which I was not aware was faulty. To be honest I did not check my trailer prior as I only use it once a year to take my boat to be serviced (I assumed all was ok) as my boat sits on a floating pontoon all year round -yes they are thorough.
Yes, there is a lot of trust involved and we have all heard about people being ripped off by shonky mechanics but I honestly believe (through experience) that PPBC's workmanship is honest and reliable.
Cheers, |

RJ fair comment and i often ask this question when i have my car serviced. In the end there is a certin amount of trust you have to put into the person/company and once they have completed the job make a judgement from there. All we can do is the best we can all the time and hope thats good enough for most. Cheers Phil. _________________ www.portphillipboatingcentre.com.au |

| I've had Phil and the guys there do my work before and I have never had a problem or any reason to question anything. Service and advice is first class. Plus top blokes which is a bonus. Always feel more than welcome when I drop in for a coffee. Unfortunately same can't be said for all dealers. |
