if you listened to yourself jg you would hear what we see when you post - pure rubbish.

How many boats have gravity feed crossovers ? comon idiot head tell us all how you know ? As you are the self proclaimed guru of all ,why dont you tell me why you should have gravity crossovers , or better still try and explain why you think its necessary.

You are advising someone on a fuel system , wake up to yourself idiot.
you do not know what you are talking about as usual.

MAN there are reasons why you should have stayed locked in a closet

Hang on i'm just looking up Aust Standards be with you in a tick

Nope nothing there to support your claim
Just as i thought you are full of it
I asked you for an explanation as to why it was dangerous which i knew you could not supply & here you are attempting to call me an idiot

I think not & you should look in the mirror

On most fuel tank set ups on boats the feed out is located @ bottom of tank are these points not connected to by rubber fuel line hose confused-fish.gif

If so then you must deem all fuel tanks dangerous

Told you many a time you're not in my league you're just a hillbilly boat repairer you're not a thinker

I wouldn't set up the way spargs has but if i did the option i gave him is a perfectly good one esp when i haven't seen the layout.

Now if that option is beyond your limited mind it dosen't give the right to call it dangerous esp if you cant back your claims

Its ok guys, appreciate the input from all involved. i think what i will do is run dual fuel tank gauges and then run individual supply and returns separely into individual tanks using a 6 way valve like this one shown in the link below;

http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=8991#

I may have to keep an eye on fuel gauges to monitor boat trim but this seems like the safest way to proceed. it also allows the option to fill up separately at servo's to prevent fuel contamination issues (not that i'd expect much from diesel).

On another note, is there any particular type of vinylester resin i must using when building a GRP fuel tank or is the standard vinylester you buy from FGI suitable?

Cheers,

Nick[/img]

Scratching my head looking @ that valve esp the price

Unless mistaken running a T into the setup i 1st described would have the same effect

Return line feeding back into fuel line to filter

Well if the diesel return line can be routed straight back into the filter then i am sold on this.

separate supply lines into a T piece running a ball valve on each line so i can select the tank i want into supply port 1 of the filter. then single return line from engine into supply port 2 of the filter.

Very cheap way to do things. Will that work ok?

Is this a Bluefin and if so what diesel engine are you installing please?
Any pictures?
The balance factor of the separate fuel tanks is not realy a problem as diesel is roughly the same weight as petrol.
If you want to do this than the best way is to pump it in a collector tank and then into the engine.
The separate tanks with my petrol engine do not empty simultaneously but hap hazardously.
I run one at the time.
The 40 odd liter water tank on the lhs if fitted makes also not a real difference

Hey mate, sorry for missing this post.

its a 23 foot Savage scout thats getting a 3 foot extension to become 26. The engine is a 220hp turbo diesel that is going to be mid mounted and then run a shaft drive with a pocket incorporated into the hull to reduce draft.

Once some real progress begins i'll start a separate rebuild thread following the build. As you can imagine, there is a lot to do.

Spargs.
