|

Hi All,
Looking at going for a carp bash for a bit of fun on light gear. Not sure how well fishing is concerning that the waters are getting cooler.
Moe or Morwell is my preferred destination as I have heard that some river around there hold good carp numbers. Never been up that way so I don't know my way around. Any suggestions were i can go for easy access along the Latrobe or morwell rivers. If the rivers aren't fishing well, I'm willing to consider heading up to lake wellington. Ive heard that this lake also has good numbers of carp.
Any suggestion would be appreciated. PM me

why bother going all that way for carp?
Plenty to be found around the Melbourne suburbs. _________________ Cheers, Ross.

Firstly, thanks the reply Ross. Secondly, Im a little confused with you reply?. If know where there is carp in melbourne I wouldnt be asking the question. Its closer for me to go moe etc,
As for why I bother for carp, it really isnt your business and for you to decide what I should fish for.
Catching Carp is good way for kids hone their fishing skills ands much I dislike eating them, they are fun to catch and to spend time with my son.
Thank you for your input. |

A good carp spot is Blue Rock Dam. Always a good chance of a nice trout as well.
cheers Mick. |

Hi Mick.
I think with all the recent rain in the Latrobe valley area, Blue rock may be a better option for me. I may have to wait a few more weeks before tackling the Latrobe river due to the moderate flood warning. Not sure how accurate this information is. Perhaps any one who has seen the river lately may be able to shed to light on the water level.
Thanks for the tip mick. |

The latrobe is certainly in flood right now but will drop by the end of the week.
If you want to fish the Latrobe I would suggest you head out the back of Moe on the Erica Rd, you will come across the Latrobe river first of all with plenty of river bank access, just up the road a little further is the tanjil river, once again with good bank access.
You can also head down Becks bridge Rd out of Moe which will bring you into the Latrobe river just above Lake Narracan, great spot for Carp with plenty of bank access again.
From there you head down to Yallourn W Power station and just below it on the left there is a weir that hold some good fish, from there you can head out to Yallourn Nth and then onto Tyers, the road follows the Latrobe most of the way, with great access at Toms bridge.
My girls love going carp fishing with me in these spots and we always land at least a few, good luck with it.

Thanks Gazman
I appreciate your tips. I have a few spots now to choose from but I definately be visiting some of spots by you and through my PMs.
Ive even asked my dad to join my son and I for a carp bash. Son is hanging to try the rod I built for him.
Cheers. |

Good luck with it Wil,
Lake Narracan is always good for a fish or two as well.
