|
|
Just been doing a bit of bottom fishing lately .
Anybody got any good ideas.
Such as best bait.
Best time
Glo sticks or not
What size bait
What size hooks
Best spots
What size leader.
Been fishing kiama canyons got a few on squid but only around the 4 kilo mark.
I have been using 400 pond leader and 8, 0 circle hooks, glo sticks half way inbetween the 3 hooks.
If anybody is keen there are heaps of blue fin off uladulla at the moment between 20 and 40 kilos in 1000 fathoms |

| thats good news about the blue fin hopefuly they keep pushing up the coast and we see them here some kind weather would help too. as for the blue eye i think its just a matter of droping into the right hole ive had the same luck briso and only landed smaller fish yet one boat running over the same drift same set up and nailed an 18kg job just luck of the draw i think mate.cheers grassy |

Brisco,
Best bait is fresh slimey or stripey chunks. I've even heard carp works well. Hooks, try 10/0 circles, light sticks definitely and you can save a few bucks on ebay. You can catch them all year round but current is the main determining factor. April through October is probably the pick. Crappy colour water I've found dosent produce as well as clearer blue water. If you fish Ulladulla start in the south canyon area about 2 - 3 km over to a depth of about 230 - 250ftm.
What was the full story with Bluefin off Ulladulla? |

Mate works on a long liner.
They caught 100 + but released most of them cause there after the bigger fish 50 + kilo fish.
They said they were busting up every where |

briso run bigger hooks 12 /14 lights work well and glow beads near hooks
strippy/slimmy/pilchards work well
ive found salmon/pike are the best
head south of canyons for a better shot
find some good ledgers
most the time u find 1 u will get more
same with hapuka
caught a lot of 10 to 20kg blue eyes south and only little ones on the canyons same as hapuka got them up to 40kg down that way as well
next time i see u ill give u some more info
