quick question to the okuma guys in the know
to cut a long story short my okuma jig combo spent
1/2 hour on the floor of the ocean in 30 odd metres of water
i thought it was lost & gorne forever , but bugger me if
i didnt get it back .....ive taken the reel apart & all
is well but in regards to the drag washers , should
they be lubricated or dry when put back together ??????
thanks bloke : ) |

Your first option is always to contact the service department. In this case Rapala VMC in Sydney.
Very hard to choose the right info from a forum even though some will be dead accurate. _________________ |

geez lucky to get one back from the depths. to do the reel justice soak in fresh water, and replace all bearings, they may be fine now but it won't take long for them to go. instead of replacing with the same washers maybe look to upgrade to carbotex ones. i cooked my drags on the salinas last year and replaced with carbotex ....oh so nice, not that they weren't before. rapala VMC may even send you some of the original washers free of charge, their pretty good when it comes to that.
to get more longevity out of the reel i'd fill it with 2 stroke oil. it will run out but will coat the hard to get places when you put it back together _________________ go hard , get em green |

thanks guys ....
as for what happend .......
broke rule 101 i think ... if the bait or lure is in the water
hang onto the bloody rod . it was taken by a small hammer head
shark , who later tangled with another line ...
still trippn out over getting the rod back : )
some days your just lucky i guess
