Hi guys,

My husband recently purchased one of those fishing Kayaks (peddle with your feet).

It's his birthday next week and I want to buy him a Shakespeare fishing rod and reel. Is Deals Direct the cheapest place to get a combo from, or is there cheaper shops out there? I ideally would like it delivered to my house during the day or I could pick it up locally in Sydney, Burwood area.

What do you think?

These days a lot of tackle outlets have no problems price matching so it's all much the same.

Do you know what you're going to get for your him exactly? The last thing you want to do is get something that's not suitable for his purpose.

My wife has done this in the past, i suggest you get him a voucher for the local tackle shop and a hat is always handy......

Each rod and reel suits a different purpose so you really need to know what he is fishing for......Maybe have a look at his current gear and post up some brand and model numbers.

Please don't take my post the wrong way but if your husband has just bought a hobie kayak he will be after some bling gear to go with it.

Its a struggle 6in, The boss asks what I want I say just get me a voucher, its happenned twice in many years. I expect some of you are like myself and get in a bit of strife over buying lures, reels, rods, tackle, line, boat bits-I always suggest the voucher as it saves the grief when I go spending on my alone time activity.

My answer to the "problem" is to put something on layby pay most of it myself and give the receipt to my better half to make the last payment and bring it home. Just gotta act surprised for the kids, not that I really need to I'm excited enough just to have a new toy.

You have to be careful with the kids, when my daughter was young she once started crying because I pulled my new present apart then drilled a hole in case to mag it. "He's breaking it" she cried to mum.

Not me!

But has anyone dealt with Mud Hole in the states?

Thinking of getting some gear of them for rod building.
