I think any of the land based spots around Geelong is a good idea. I was out on the boat the other day and it was like my sounder was on demo mode, arches everywhere, although I went out on sunrise and only had the one rod bend over and take a run, dropped the bait thou, the snapper are everywhere but really need to put in a good nights work as they seem to be very lethargic, at least thru out the day.
The rocks at St Helens seems to be going well, and after talking to a bloke once I had the boat on the trailer he told me of at least 5 snapper all over 5kg getting caught thru out the night over the previous few nights he was there, definaty a good option.
Also a good option with the moon showing it's full self would be the surf beaches, from ocean grove thru to Jan juc would be an ideal start coming from Geelong, with the right bait there is a good chance of a gummy or two
Not the best wind for St Helens, an onshore wind would be better , and it would be pretty miserable but if your keen then try to fish the tide change and well into the run out and you should be in with half a chance, in saying that I think the temp was around 10.5 deg last time I went out, so being that cold you would think they have to start slowing down and be a bit harder to catch, however it's pretty hard to catch fish sitting on the couch so why not give it a go
