| I have just bought a Sage One 486. Fitted it with a SA GPX 4 wt line. Your lamson reel in this weight will be fine and should be a well balanced combo. If you are considering these don't overline them. There is no need to. |

| It's a Sage, of course it's good. Uplining is always a touchy subject, most times you just need the right line, some brands suit certain rods more than others, rods are so good nowadays, probably more to do with a persons casting abilities, or shortcomings. Do some casting courses with someone like Morsie or Peter Hayes when they do them, done a few and they are the way to go if you really want to fish and cast better. |

Thanks Fin but I’m asking specifically about the One as I haven’t had a cast with one yet. I don’t find the issue of going up a line class touchy and if you read my second post again, I have only gone up a line class with my 6wt that I use exclusively in windy conditions, so I’ll stick with my recommendation. I might however be a little touchy when someone infers I need help with technique, and although I don’t for one minute think I can’t learn any more about casting or catching fish - if you’re inferring I may need casting lessons because of my comments then think again. As I mentioned I use my 8 ft 3wt (with 3wt Rio) almost exclusively and can cast the whole fly line – good enough for you?
But anyway - everyones an expert hay |

| Touchy is right, your the one who is touchy, my point was about up lining in general you poor little thing, was it directed at you ??? some fancy it some don't, and despite what you think most problems with casting are technique, again was it directed at you???? "AND" my point about certain lines suiting certain rods is totally accurate. Your too sensitive, pull your head in. My remarks were general. Canberran eh! another act flyfisher no doubt, lol. that would explain it. |

| Whatever skid. Not sure what living in Canberra has to do with anything but if taking an uneducated cheap shot helps you get through the day then good on you. |

Get through my days quite nicely , merely returning the ball as per last 2 lines of your reply. It's all good. |

I think that this squabble could only be resolved with both of you being placed in an Octogon. You will be wearing wetsuits, taking turns striking each other in the face with a dead carp. The loser has to eat the carp. The winner gets my undying gratitude.
Good luck! _________________ If it feels good....., do it!!!

Hi Luke
The Sage One 4 wt is a brilliant rod. You mention that you have been flyfishing for a number of years, then you will enjoy this little baby. Although I reckon it is a 5wt in disguise. I wanted a 4wt as I had an old 6wt rod that I enjoyed, but after this the 6 doesn't come out much anymore, except for using heavy sinking line. All the hype I read and saw on flyrod reviews on youtube etc about this rod being accurate is an understatment. It is deadly accurate. I couldn't believe how accurate it actually is. Get to a Sage dealer and have a flick with one. I went last year back to a fly rod demo/sale day ready to buy a Scott S4 that I tried the year before. That was until I picked up the One.
No need to overline this rod a GPX line is plenty.
I use it for rivers and fishinglakes out of my boat.
Great rod, thankyou Gerry Sieme
I am in no way associated with Sage , this is my first Sage rod and if they keep making them like this won't be my last. _________________ Regards
