|
|
Hi all,
I hope you can help me out with getting some user experience with the South Pacific Anchor Winches.
I have a Haines 580 Breeze and was looking at the South Pacific 710 F series Anchor Winch.
I fish in Port Phillip and Westernport Bays in Victoria.
Has anyone had any experience with them - good or bad?
Appreciate any feedback - Thank you |

| Had all sorts of dramas with them. You can apparently get them to work if you basically modify the bow of your boat (depending on bow config). I wouldnt personally waste time with them, spend the extra $ and get a decent brand (Muir, Lewmar etc) or go with drum winch. |

we dont have a problem with slipping as we use the correct rope if you use the silver rope it will slip
our problem is in fact the opposite the rope jambs between the splitter and the hawser
Even trying to get parts is a pain from the company it took me 2 weeks of emails phone calls and wrong parts sent and need tobe returned
In the end I sent a photo of the part needed

Ok you have definately woken me up if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.
Firstly thank you to everyone who has commented you have saved me and my boat for that I thank you.
This kicked off a whole new round of investigation for me so far I have looked at Mitch's winches from SA, Quality marine in Dandenong, and Lewmar. I am waiting on info from Apex marine on SAV and X winches
Does anybody have any info on a website for Sav winches?
Thanks |

Thanks Brett,
I actually came across your thread when I was googling the winches raised as replies to me in this thread.
Thats how I found Apex and heard about the Sav winches. Their website talks about an X-winch but know nothing about them.
I have emailed, called and PMed Apex to find out more info so hope to hear from them soon to learn some more.
The other version that was listed was a Brett model although I cannot find out any info on that.
I promise as soon as I have done all my research I will post on here including links so others can find it as well. |
