a couple more questions are fully rollered rods necessary or roller tip sufficient, also any opinions on the tcurve revolution offshore and are the backbone elite a waste of money or worth considering as a cheaper alternative?

JG,

You are a muppett.

What bit about Aussie built Wilson rods do u think is a conspiracy, or false advertising?
If you can explain why we have thousands of kilwell blanks and various tens of thousands of pieces of rod componentry, oh and an entire temperature control factory devoted to building rods here in Oz and more specifically Brisbane, but apparently don't build them here I'd love to know cos I could probably save my boss a heap of $$$.

Jayyyyygee you really have no idea what you are talking about here. The company was founded by Les Wilson over 60 years ago hence the name L.Wilson and co and is still run by his son Graeme. Still completely Australian owned and all the Wilson rods are built in Brisbane with componentry and blanks from around the world. You may be confusing the fact that they are the Australian agent for surecatch and mustad but they are not owned by either of these companies.

Custom sabres are exactly that... Custom... Wilson factory rods are as close as you will get and being built in Australia they are far superior to a t-curve etc...

I think you will find that a custom rod is made specifically for you by a rod builder.
Now the sabres you get off the rack @ better known tackle stores are made by a builder for them and then put on their rack and sold to a customer not really a custom rod vut much better than the mass produced rack rods.

If you are buying a mass produced rack rod you may as well by a silstar crystal blue stick

Seems i booboo'd in my original statement twas a long time ago that i was told & checked up 2day.

It's surecatch which is os company singapore & the basis of wilsons buisness.

But hey glad i gave some of you guys a stiffy for the day laughing-fish.gif laughing-fish.gif

lodka you are 100% correct till a few years back one can only purchase Sabre Blanks, new ownership has the blanks built here in oz & sold as a standard off the shelf product.

Not bad looking rods either price is determined by rods configuration/hardware

I do agree that the majority of sabres are what you would consider off the rack but knowing that they are triple overbound and epoxied between binds they are as close to custom as a (factory) rod gets. And you still have the option of making them custom, eg there are some sabres being built for a Melbourne store with black and silver guides and red accents in the trims which are not standard or versions with leather grips and boat names added. Kinda one of the perks of having a quality builder doing so called factory rods. They are however almost double the price of a Wilson built factory stroker which doesn't have quite the same build ( double overs ) but still hand made in Australia compared to factory mass produced rubbish out of china etc.

Once again your comments about the company are incorrect by saying that surecatch is the basis of the business. It would take a lot of terminal tackle and cheap combos to be worth more than the 800 plus rods that are produced each week out of the Brisbane rod factory let alone all of the other items as well as mustad.
For someone who claims to know "quite a fair bit" about the tackle industry your information so far has been nothing short of ordinary.
