Thanks for the encouragement. I'm not sure if the Baron is the same as the crestcutter but I would imagine they are not to different as most moulds were similar back then. I left the flat edge of the gunwhale in tact when I cut the top off, that way I had some support when I added the extra wide topsides. I am pleased with the room and handleing I have now and yes the captains chair is comfy. The next addition is a padded top fibreglass esky infront of the console for a bit of extra seating. By the way I have one spare captain chair that is brand new for sale if someone wants it. Dont know freight charges and I live in Adelaide. Asking around $200.00.
