Heres the tank top detail. No doubt that the floor is the top of the tank.

Still not convinced lazy only because from the pic outlet closest looks like it has a dual weld, top weld dosen't look complete which can indicate checker is just protection for tank.

When i get to see one up close & in front of me i'll have no probs confirming

You cant be serious???

If the fuel level sensor is screwed into the socket that is just a plate above the tank how would you seal the sensor into a seperate tank below???

I am very serios
All those welds are mig'd nobody in their right mind would mig weld tube the size of outlet & breather onto the tank directly.

Stop/start on the mig would allow for pinholes in weld around small diametor tube like that.

To me it looks like weld over weld going by pic
Original pics you posted indicate one of 2 things return lip on tanks top & checker used as top skin which i'm doubting

option 2
All long welds on tank itself are bottom side this would've allowed them to weld baffles to top of tank to also act as stiffeners due to the fact tank runs length of boat & it will be troden on all the time.

Checker is just welded on top as added protection welded all the way around so as water dosen't get in between sheets to start corrosion process

Theres welds on the tank top just like the rest of the floor where its welded to the stringers.

Why would there be welds on the lid if they werent to the baffles???

I think the tank and floor may all be part of the subfloor structure.
