| Just to ad... What my plan was is to do a biminitwist from mainline into a 6 to 7 foot wind on onto a heavy snap then my leader to hook.... Ive never fished braid befor n was told thT short wind on is great for some boatside strength n stretch... Any other options?? |

I would not trust dacron to braid. I would tie the mono straight to bimini using a reverse albright. _________________ Please look at our youtube site which is free and has lots Tuna, Kingfish and Marlin clips: |

I'm a bit the same but tend to use a double uni or a slim beauty. Have never actually tested a cats paw braid-dacron. Perhaps I should whack it in the vice and pull with some scales attached. |

70 pound braid to a 200 pound wind on
You'll need to do a pretty stadard, loop to loop, with a braid or dcron spiced loop on the wind on.
Braid to dacron or braid to braid is bettter than either to nylon, as they both have same properties, non-stretch. _________________ |

the problem with heavy leaders on spin tackle is that typically, you'll want a few wraps around the spool, and that (a) takes up capacity and (b) anything over 100-130lb starts to spring off the spool ... teach yourself to do a twistie leader ... its basically say 2 strands of say 80lb twisted together for say 8 feet, hence equalling 160lb, and a few wraps of that on the spool sits far better than 130lb mono as an example.
prepare a few twistie leaders, and do a short bimini in the braid, then it's a very simple loop type connection to the twistie (refer Nomad charters web site & there is a vid showing you the connection ... its better than a standard loop to loop)
in trailer boats, realistically all you are concerned with is the last 3 feet for heavier mono re bill protection, and for your standard billfish in the 60-130kg bracket, avoid taking a wrap on the leader, and you will have no issues at all , and have a leader set up of # 10 feet
the short bimini is to stop potentially catching giudes on casting and ripping / damaging them
alternately, if you want to go down the path of knotting directly to heavier mono, teach yourself the PR knot ... |
