|
|
I don't want to sound greedy but has anyone seen or tried a double squid jig arrangement when drifting.
I have often seen squid following their hooked mates while reeling in my jig and wondered what if I had another jig on the same line - is it possible to bring in a double header??
Vic Rec & Fishing Guide allow 2 hooks or 1 bait jig per line - so 2 artificial squid jigs on the one line should be OK??

I have even have a couple of triple jigs made up they work come in handy hen bait gathering.
Trick is to use a float those adjustible ones are best it'll gauge depth you want & you can vary @ any time.
It's riged like a padamonsta lead on bottom to keep rig staight & tentioned BUT the lead weights on jigs have to be either removed or cut down so the jigs trail & not tangle _________________ Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy Cat |

yeh up here that is how most of our squid fishing is done like JG has said
paternosta rig with one or more squid jigs on the droppers lead on the bottom and the jigs adjusted
but most of the time with the current you don't even need to worrie too much about the weight on the squid jigs
squid are not fished that hard up here so we even use cheap jigs and when they are on they are on in a big way
been a few time when i have taken the squid gear out to have over the side when biat fishing for snapper and the snapper gears get put down as the squid gear keeps you too busy _________________

Sounds like the float set up is the go. Not sure how you would explain using 3 jigs to the boys in green?
What about drifting with no float? I usually fish in water 3m depth with no float. I was thinking about 2 jigs tied in parallel off a foot long quill / thin rod arrangement. Probably need similar size jigs to avoid tangles. Different colours wo uld be a good test to see their preferred colour on the day.
Could be an expensive exercise if you snag them though. |

Thats got me wondering whether or not there is a jig limit per person. Is a jig classified as a single hook?
The number of hooks per rig and rods per person is a funny thing i reckon. We are governed by bag limits arent we. More hooks in the water might just mean youre going home a little earlier,

In Victoria a jig is classed as a lure, and a lure is classed as one hook, so you can fish 2 jigs if you choose to. _________________ When some one says "you have changed!" it simply means you have stopped living life their way
