We have allocated days for remembering tragedies, losses and wars in history, and Australia Day. Whats wrong with them occasionally reminding us of what we westerners have done to them, its their land and rights after all. They burn a measly colourful flag and we complain, we burn and plunder their land but they cant whinge?
Burning the flag is an insult Boris otherwise why bother burning it, the fact that its doesnt upset you maybe is a reflection on your true character.
As for whinging go right ahead we're a land of free speech, however how long do they want to whinge for? till we all hop on a boat and plane and leave for our motherlands? Not going to happen. so maybe another tactic or approach is needed. Do you actually no exactly what they're wanting?
I would even doubt this group even represent the majority of the Aboriginal people?
Jay , not taking " da puss of ya M8 , at least your reply is not as closed minded as the most recent bias .
Native Americans , those old enough will remember the most common theme for American Movies was Cowboys & Indians wherein Whites celebrated their victory ( ) over the indigenous population. The conciseness of a later era saw movies like Dances with Wolves which observed the pure brutality and greed of earlier conduct. Now days the Americans use fictional Super Heroes to satisfy their " Land of Hope & Glory" lust / justification. Maybe we need a Kangaroo Waltz era.
Until recent times all land in Australia was either under the control of the Crown or , in private ownership ( not indigenous ) . The prospects of a nomadic self sustaining lifestyle was limited including in a Reservation.
Your last two comments were about defeat and biting the hand. Hopefully defeat is not an outcome. Of equal hope is that we all maintain the right to question authority. Particularly given that authority is not always correct.

It maybe just a piece of cloth to you but to others it's a spit on the face
Tell me boris if a flag is just a piece of cloth & means nothing why do you think Cathy Freeman chose to fly the indegenous flag when she won gold @ the olympics
I dont understand, are you saying you value a flag more than the land that nourishes you? Cathy chose to identify herself as an indiginous person, wow. In that case I'll bring you an aussie flag tomorrow and we can swap it for your back yard and you can spit on me as much as you like. _________________ I am an idiot and a liar.

Boy thats very one sided of you. In that case how many years can we celebrate Australia day for? How long do we keep remembering your birthday for? Remembering the war hero's? We celebrate these days every year and our whole lives. My true character if you cant already guess is that of moral fundamental basics. I value morals and fellow human beings before a flag. You better take a look at yourself in the mirror _________________ I am an idiot and a liar.

Did Australias current race if aborigines displace a previous race??
I remember learning this at school, however that was a few pallets of beer ago.
Im no professor but for topics sake, Aborigines came after Mungo man if I remember right. It was at a guess for example 100,000 years ago, give or take 50,000, I dont know. Did anyone archive history documents back then?
Important thing to me is since then Aborigines lived in harmony with the land/ecosystem and could have done it for eternity but,,,, we came and started destroying the balance and continue to do so till we destroy everything. _________________ I am an idiot and a liar.

BoringisK,
Are you having a rantathon or what..?? If you can't tell the difference between a victim and a victor then pick up a dictionary..
Here's a tip Boring: Every race in history has destroyed ecosystems and balance - including the Australian Aboriginals...
Oh, and how much aboriginal do you have in you..??
Nath..
Ah, the underpaid politician is back. I dont need the definition of the mentioned words. I asked you to describe both words in relation to this matter. But in typical political fashion you skillfully sidestep the grill so as not to expose your true person for all to see. Politics and morals are two opposing extremes these days, and you seem to prove this by not being able to combine morals into your political and empty speech's here.
And noway Poyndexter. Every race has not destroyed ecosystems. _________________ I am an idiot and a liar.
Weapon , for the record , my dictionary defines Victim , presumably what you were talking about , as " person of animal slain sacrificially, person etc destroyed or injured that an object may be attained or passion gratified " etc .
May be an appropriate word but , but not one that assists you narrow minded argument

Correct me if I am wrong , the protest was about Constitutional change to provide for Race not being a basis of discrimination. Seems to be a reasonable notion for equality. How can a Constitution which allowed a White Australia be acceptable in this day and age.
To take a negative approach to the subject can only perpetuate the wrongs of the past .
Well I'm not sure what the consensus is, but all the media I saw says that they were protesting most recently about comments by Abbott, whipped up and misrepresented by the Labor Party via Gillards office.
What I'd really like to know is, what exactly is the objective of the Tent Embassy?
All this talk of flag burning; well people want reconciliation but its a two way street. Imagine if I went out in public and burned the Aboriginal flag; there would be extreme offence taken, and rightly so. Remember the flag belongs to the Australian people, not the government.
If the Tent Embassy wants to live in harmony with the rest of us, then they need to act accordingly.
Finally, taking a 'negative approach' as you suggest will not perpetuate any aspect of the past, my suggestion is that we deal with the past and move on. In the 1700's white man arrived in Australia, killed a lot of the local indigenous population, committed all sorts of horrible acts and permanently settled on land the Aboriginals owned. Yes, it happened. Can we take it back? No. Can we fix it? No. Should we forget it? No. But we can stop living it day to day and get on with life.
I dont think thats negative, I think it is profoundly positive to deal with great tragedy and then find good things in the world to look forward to.
And if all of that is not good enough for you and Boris, why dont you practice what you preach? Hand over all of your 'stolen' property, back to the original owners, and depart Australia for where ever your ancestors came from? Why - because it is your home too, just as much as it is the Aboriginal's home. _________________
