G day Frank,
Still around mate, i will always remember the great effort that the fishnet crew put in for the family of "Still Trying ' on his passing ,i think i joined 2001 some time , i do remember something about re-joining a long time back, Still fishing ,and still give a report now and then .
cheers Noel |
Noel. Yes mate I raised over $2000 for " Still trying " . The generosity and good will from the members was heart pleasing, and the family appreciated the effort.
That was a period where Fishnet was a family and not just a web forum.

Some people have got the meaning of this thread wrong. It was sort of to wish Fishnet congratulations and a happy 10th birthday rather than any sort of winge about members leaving the site.
Frank |
Sorry Frank didn't mean anything topwards your post. Since spending more time on forum I see lots of older members posting than saying 'over ridicule/ smart arses and how it used to be much better. Again sorry didn't mean to hijack or cheapen post.
And yes congrats on fishnets 10th. |

Curious about the meaning of " The Crash "
Not contradicting your intention Frank , there is a bit of a " where are they now " aspect which is good
There was Trouty and Rev , he was around for a long while but , not apparent recently.
Hewie was popping up every now and again. _________________ An open mind beats an open tackle box |

Think I joined in 98, well before the Mexicans and the soft plastics revolution. Still enjoy reading the hassle at boat ramps at PPB during snapper season though. Got some great info from fellow members when I first bought my first boat. That was 3 boats ago. I still remember the first post I ever put up Little Rexy came and helped me considerably, as did Micksa. Look in just about every night to see whats happening. Don't post much unless there is something I consider I can help someone with. What has changed for me is in particular the freshwater and some other forums where the big loud mouths come on and try and take over. Well for me when I come home from work I just wish to enjoy reading and share in a relaxed manner the passion that many of us enjoy being fishing. To the guys who want to be legends in their own lunchtime, your comments condemn you to questioning if you are truly a fisho or just a keyboard junkie who knows a lot about nothing and who can't handle someone having a differing opinion than yours. On a positive note I really enjoy reading about the many talented guys who put in endless hours restoring boats to there former glory or who have the inspiration to see an old boat and totally transform it to a new modern stylish fishing vessel. To them I say well done, you are the inspiration of what a little foresight and committment can achieve. _________________ Regards

I can remember getting up around the 600 posts before the meltdown. !0 years ago - doesn't seem that long. Still around - don't post much , but still a regularl visititor. Still wear my personalised Fishnet cap when fishing. A bit faded , but comfortable.
Yeah, met some great people , and still see some every October at Mates Day when we band together under the old Fangvic name and help out. _________________ Tight Lines and a Dry Bum - Sparkesy1 |
