Surely if the Chinese made winches are that bad we would be seeing lots of forum posts everywhere about this dodgy brand for this problem or that dodgy brand for that problem?
What differences can I honestly expect if for example I buy a Chinese made drum winch as compared to a local brand such as an xwinch?
Thx
i think the chinese ones are suss ceptable to little nics banging on the drum

Would you have any idea how many Chinese winches I've repaired or replaced components on in the last 12 months I have a very nice (and large) photo library
So.... How many?
Excuse me
Lets leave that answer for those who are genuine and don't have an axe to grind! My album is available for the right people to view, but I certainly won't be posting pics here, especially for the likes of you or 'Delete". _________________

You're an interesting fella 'Delete'. Why don't you tell us who you are.
I didn't use the words 'bad' or 'dodgy', you did. If you go back an have another read, you'll find I said that they are not up to the same standard as the locally produced products. That's a fact!
Re your question '"what differences can I honestly expect", if you don't already know the answer to that, you've not done any real research yourself. And if you think I'm going to waste my time educating someone who's not at all genuine or serious, you've got rocks in your head.
Again, why don't you tell us who you really are 'Delete'. _________________
So much anger, spiro......for such a simple question.....that remains unanswered by you.
Especially seeing as you have been so vocal against Chinese manufactured winches.... and you offered the comment about having so many stuffed ones lying about, and a photo album of them.
You sell winches.....promoting them here in Fishnet. Cool. I just might be a potential customer like others who also just read your response!
And you promote yours by slagging the competition, and claim proof.
Now, you want to act overly defensive instead of supporting your own comments that you chose to post in here?!
Interesting business methodology.
Wouldn't it be far simpler just to say how many buggered Chinese winches you have there and share the album....?! _________________ How's the serenity....

I dont think theres much inferior about some chinese winches at all.
Plenty of locally made products arent up to scratch.
Firstly I think this whole winch business is hijacking the thread.
Do you want to create a new one, where you can substantiate your claim for all those interested ?
Clearly, you've done some research on this. Maybe you could give us a list in order of quality ?
I'm sure the community would appreciate your valued opinion.
Firstly apologies to all for the diversion. This is my final response to DougGrant and Delete on the subject of winches in this thread.
Doug, this is the last time I respond to your unfounded accusations and/or waste any more time and effort on you.
Do you have any idea what a rhetorical question is Doug?
Show me where I have slagged Chinese manufacturers.
Explain to us why so many LOCAL boat builders prefer to buy LOCALLY manufactured winches.
Defensive????? Not at all Doug. There is a big difference between being defensive and being responsible for what is posted on public forums.
Prove to the members that I have not replaced, repaired, serviced other winches and that I do not have proof of failures or a photo library to support that.
If you want a Chinese winch, then by all means import one yourself and save a few more dollars doing that.
This is a thread about Edencraft. YOU and DELETE have made it about the winches, not me. Why don't you explain your motivation for doing that? Actually Doug, you don't need to. The members that count already know. _________________
Show us more of the Edencraft 6m build. Much more interesting and definitely more visually appealing than all this antagonism and BS.
Wanna winch that lasts? Buy a Stressfree/X-winch/Micks. They are all good things and a somewhat dearer than the imports. But hey, buy once, cry once. _________________ Cheers,
