Troutfisha sorry mate I rekon ur wrong and Im not a idiot. I ran my boat twice b4 going to eden. Filled up when 3 pumps were out of service due to low tanks went out and nealy lost my boat due to contaminated fuel. Two other boats with twins both had the same problem and when we took our boats to get looked at they found large quantities of water. Its not coincedence 3 boats were stuffed due to filling up at the same servo on the same day. When i posted the results from Port Phillips repairs 2 other people mentioned they had problems or heard of others that had problems with Caltex that day.
You are asking for trouble if you know the tanks at a servo are low & you still fill your boat from them. Cars are different, you don't risk losing your car if you run out on the side of the road.
Same goes for when the tanker is there filling the underground tanks. They stir up the rubbish of the bottom & it may take at least a couple of hours to settle again. Best to check whats going on at the other servo's.
Don't think there would be many underground tanks in the country that haven't got contaminates in the bottom.
Just some food for thought. _________________ NO SEA TO RUFF, NO MUFF TO TUFF
Hmmmm, filled up at the Caltex last Tuesday, boat kept stalling all day,
Fraser Marine suggested maybe I shouldn't be filling up at the servos over the road.
A bottle of Metho seems to hace done the job,
A water / fuel filter, seperator will be added before I return.
If you have one you probably wouldn't notice the problem, _________________ I want to live forever.....sofar so good!
Fished on the weekend,Sat was slow at Mowary water temp down and pro boats everywhere so went up to the point at Greencape for 3 Kings and a couple of bonnies, water still below 17.Couta started to give us the shits mid arvo so headed in.
Sunday morning we struggled to get livies so we went up to the point again and got 8 kings all about 70-85 cm on jigs, water temp was up a bit mid 17s.Pink and Green/Gold did the job as well as a few
on Lucanis jigs.
mattg you can still get water to ur engine with a fuel seperator its just there to seperate small amounts of fuel and can give you an indication of water if you have a clear bulb on it but you have to be looking at it. When I had my problem it was filling and getting to the engine within minutes but better to have them then not.
Just got back from Eden yesterday. Livies weren't a problem inside. Filled boat at the top servo and the 4wd with diesel both still (touch wood) running fine.
Fished Mowary for my first ever kings and I am addicted love it. Didn't get any larger models 5.5 was the biggest but I cannot believe how hard they go........most taken on livies only one on jig. I can't wait to have a crack at them again I'm still shocked at how hard they go even after watching plenty of dvd's nothing like i expected......awesome
