Hi guys after my last visit to hospital, it was mentioned that alternative treatment might be of some use. I know of at least 3 fishnetters with health issues. As there are 75731 members I was wondering what others members are suffering from?

This is NOT a poor me thread!! Sometimes sharing leads to helping.

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Diagnoised 1994.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rheumatoid_arthritis

Like many other diseases side effects of medication or other diseases manifest from the original disease.

Currently I have leg ulcers, a torn calf muscle that has since developed into a blood clot, a baker’s cyst that has just ruptured, numerous joints that are deformed, high blood pressure due to current medication 180 over 110.

I was one of 14 patients that was involved in a clinical trial (experiment) held at ST Vincent’s hospital Sydney 1997-2000. The treatment was high dose chemotherapy with a stem cell transplant. Some of the side effects of the trial are starting to emerge.

Are there any members who suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis? What treatment are you doing?

We all have two things in common…we like to fish. We are all getting older.

What do you suffer from?

By the time you reach the age of 54 it's inevitable you will have a range of ailments....

type 2 diabetes
gout both big toes
bursitis right hip
adhesive capsulitis (otherwise known as frozen shoulder) right shoulder
chronic ear infections right ear
numerous skin cancers removed so far
high cholesterol
arthritis right heel
failing memory
list should be much longer but see above
bad eyes
bad teeth
bad breath (probably)
nagging wife
itchy sac
partially insane (for replying to this post)

could be worse....we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Being a long time gout sufferer, i now use Cherries as the No1 defence and they work like a charm. wink-fish.gif

The US FDA is currently trying to out law businesses stating the claims of the benificial effects of cherries on all sorts of gout/arthritis type ailments. angry-fish.gif angry-fish.gif

I mentioned this to a work mate who's wife had bad hips, after consuming a few cans of cherries she had the best nights sleep she had had for years. happy-fish.gif

Cherries are powerful anti-inflamitories. cool-fish.gif

Worth a go for all types of problems. I have found the cherries along with fish oil have also helped me with a decades old back problem as well. laughing-fish.gif

Good luck to you mate.

I have just sat down for a cup of coffee after coming home from Concord hospital for tests and talks, poking and proding.
Still have the patch on my inner elbow where the blood test was taken.
next thursday I go back in for another bone scan test xray type affair then monday 2nd April I go back and have more tests for abdomin and pelvic tests.
I am currently waiting on a date to start Radiotherapy, this means I go in and have seeds of some sort implanted and body markings etc followed two weeks later by a series of radioactive scans 39 in total 5 days a week till the 39 scanns are done, this will be done in Royal prince alfred hospital.
This treatment is for my latest ailement which is Prostate cancer, I was going to opt for sergury but owing to my heart condition and the fact I have lost a lung somewhere, ( they can't tell me where it's gone )
sergury is not advised.
Other than that I feel great, still able to walk around ( albeit slowly ) and do the things I enjoy in life.
Fishing is slowing down and I can't walk the golf courses these days, can't even get a full swing on a club.
But life is good and each morning I wake up I thank my lucky stars for yet another start to another day on this great planet of ours.

Frank

bloke&tackle, Murrayman2, nimrod thanks for replying.

To all other fishnet members.

This is a post where members are putting their very personal, sometimes painful & possibly life threating illnesses out there and don’t need stupid, silly smutty remarks or to be ridiculed for posting about any illness.

I’m afraid that members will not get involved due to this.

So can we please keep this thread for what it was meant to be?

There’s plenty of other threads that you can use jokes in. wink-fish.gif cool-fish.gif

Thanks

Damian

No need for a diagnose from the docs. I already know the cause but not sure when I will overcome the horror.

Ok.....2 lacker bands and an icypole stick will fix that.
As for the rest of you.....i'm just not going to complain. I have a pretty good bill of health thank God! I cant stand needles, dont like Hospitals to the point where im allergic to them. Cant stand the smell in Hospitals, nearly makes me sick just thinkin' about it. Like Nurses though...well some of them.
I really feel for you guys with health issues. Frank, all the best mate, you sure desrerve some good fortune.

Cheers Andy

Geez, jayyygee must be sick quite a lot... laughing-fish.gif

On the un funny side though. I'm 34 was 155kg blood pressure fine, cholesterol up, everything else good. wont reach 50. Not as bad as some of you fellas, but I have a 3 1/2 yr old son that wont have a father in 10 or so yrs. So I joined a gym, motivate myself to go 4-5 times a week currently down to 143kg. I have a goal and it's called Tough Mudder (not this year, have a wedding to cater that day) but next year.

For those that dont know what it is Tough Mudder is 20km of british SAS obstacle training course. Thats my goal. To stop being a lazy fat bastard and not die. Coz lets face it, fat people like me are going to rule hospital beds in the next 10 yrs. I sure as hell dont want to be one of them.

Cheers for reading if you have.
