So as you guys know Granny (m.law) has lung cancer. She’s a young 73 year old. Still drives around picking up gran kids, plays in the vegi patch ect..
We met with the surgeon a couple of days ago. He seems like a good fella who has done this operation many times.
I’ll sum it up quick. We’ll come through your back. We break the wall of ribs, since cancer looks to be only in stage 1, we will remove the cancer and approx 20 % of lung. After surgery we will discuss what dose of chemotherapy & radiation therapy will be required…….
I’m worried that the old girl may not get through it….you know what I’m trying to say…….
I wonder if she’s not better off telling them to shove it & to live on with a better quality of life until the cancer takes her….
Surgery booked for Weds next week…..I want to say something but……… _________________ Life is like a fish milkshake
Since it is still in the early stages she might be fine and go on to live another 20 years.
But it depends on the person, my grandmar is 74 and still working 3 days a week. I say given she is a young 73 year old and it is stage 1 let her give it a shot.
Ta frozenpod. My uncle died Mesothelioma not too long ago. They did almost same procedure on him. He was 60yr old very fit big bloke......he never got out of hospital after op
Farther in-law went to same hospital to have splint put in……died during op. .
I guess that's why I'm so hesitant. _________________ Life is like a fish milkshake

You can look at it as one of three possible outcomes;
1. Do nothing, you've had a good run, enjoy things while you can until it gets you (slowly and painfully maybe),
2. Surgery goes bad and you slip away on the table and avoid all the pain and sufferring,
3. Have surgery, get through with treatment and maybe have 5-10 good yrs, perhaps longer ?
Hi Guys I suffer from COPD (smoking) has killed my lungs and reduced them to about 10% of there working capacity
( not crying over spilt milk as i did it to my self )
There is 5 8ths of f$&$& all that can be done ,,
2 of the main side effects is
1 no wind most of the time ,,
2 really mad phlegm ,, this cause's me the most grieve and at night can be horrific
Now this bit of info is for those that suffer the same thing or there a bouts ,,
i have been having calamine tea with a teaspoon of honey in it
(this has given mild relieve )
After searching the net for many days hours i stumbled on a post in a forum where a women was using hot water and lemon (fresh) juice and honey and had given her good relief from it
So i thought i would keep using the the calamine tea and honey and add some lemon juice to it And WHAM what a result ,, has 99.9% cleared my phlegm up and has give me good nights sleep ,,
Any one suffering from this give it ago ,,
Would love to here from any one if they give it a go and find a huge improvement
here's how i make it up (works best this way )
Hot water ,,
tea bag in ,,
tea bag out,,
one and a half teaspoon of honey in and stir ,
then add 3 desert spoons of fresh lemon juice & stir
I normally have it about a hour before bed time ,,

4. She has the operation it takes 6 months to get over, then with chemo & radiation she's really sick for next ????? and then dies. ....so the time she has left she's as crook as a dog anyway.......
The old girl and I had a heart to heart and she's going for the operation. She wants to be a great grandma.....but is very scared. _________________ Life is like a fish milkshake
