|
|
Considering retro fitting a set of electric/hydraulic trailer brakes to my MT-180T-MO Tinka trailer. All loaded up the boat is just under 2 tonne, however, we are doing some long runs now with the boat on the highway, in 'Roo country, and think this could be a healthy investment.
I have been quoted around the $3K mark for the fit up. I had a new AL-KO Sensa-Brake car system fitted to my LR Defender in preparation, wired for both Sensa-Brake and straight electric.
Question is whether I go for a
- AL-KO Sensa-Brake LT-1000E unit (which is compatible with most in car units and will obviously work with mine); or
- Go for the Carlilse HydraStar unit that TINKA now fit exclusively.
What are people's views and is there much between them? |

| I have the Alko and it has been faultless to date, sure they are all good. Think Phil at Port Phillip Boating Centre use Dexter so they must be ok. |

We went away from the Alko sensa brake as we did have a few problems, have been fitting dexter and hydrastar without a issue in 4 years now. From what i have been told the new Alko is a lot better then the old so should be ok. Dont think you will go wrong with any of the 3. Cheers Phil. _________________ www.portphillipboatingcentre.com.au |

| Yes we also went away from SensaBrake but are back using them now, the new LT1000E is the way to go and theirs no need for a battery on the trailer. Ive had problems with all 3 brands in the past they all have there pros & cons. |

| Thanks guys - decided on the LT-1000E. $3K sound about right for a retro-fit? |
