Fished of Portland today, headed out to the horseshoe, found cooler water in approx 700ft, plenty of bird activity and Tuna busting the surface..Best hard body lures were X-raps and best skirted lures were my new Tsutomu Lures...
A nice bonus today was the 30kg Mako also caught on a Tsutomu lure.

Hi Vodka O, my mate Ben caught the Mako, 30 kgs is a guesstimate at best. Never caught a mako before on my boat and it left some nice teeth marks on side of boat when I gaffed it (and coincidently lost a Tsutomu lure at this point). Normally I have scales that go up to 60kgs in my boat but left them back at my holiday house on this occasion. If I were to give a range it would be 25-30??
Ben did well for someone who chucked up all day after the initial two hours. I have to admit that I found this hilarious. Never seen anyone heave so much in my life. Photo of tuna was taken on way back in around the back of the rock. Ben did well to take the photo before heaving over the side again. Strange today but he complained that he'd done some internal damage to his ribs/chest region.
Hi Kyle. Back on nightshifts this weekend. Though I have put in for leave for all of next week. Have to negotiate conditions with my wife as only got back in Melbourne today. |

Well done again Tom, saw you guys at the tables, a Mako is a great by-catch on the Toona, sounds like your mate Ben sucked it up very well, never been seasick and never want to.
Cheers J |
