Don’t agree in the slightest with Bobs beliefs, policies or his agenda but you cannot argue against his dedication, passion, strategic thinking or political nous. He dedicated his whole life to his beliefs – I respect these qualities in Bob only wish he was on our side! With Bob there was no masquerade of any hidden agenda. I’ve meet the guy and he told everyone who wanted to know where he stood and what his life was dedicated to. Disagree or even hate him, he used our political system as his forum and it’s incredible to think that this guy had the government of the day and our voted prime minister bent over and he made sure he made the most of it. I’m glad to see Bob retire and I sincerely hope in retirement Bob discovers and takes up fishing and shooting!

2.8 million people voted for him at the last Federal election.

Love him or hate him he has changed Federal politics forever.

PS I have never voted Green nor am I likely to do so in the near future.

Protest votes or not, the total was 2.8 million.

What have the Greens done to be branded con-artists?

Contradicting yourself JG. 1st your saying they did not vote him in, then saying they did. Like it or not Bob Brown managed to influence Australian politics because he got enough votes to do so. Also like it or not, every one knew what Bob Brown was about. No hidden agenda with him.

You throw up a figure of 2.8 million votes & you think people really wanted to vote for him.

The aust voting system is a bit of a joke how many of those 2.8 million were preference votes confused-fish.gif

Never 4get the 1st words that came out of his mouth once he knew he could control the *********

Not lets get this country moving it was he he she Gay Marriages are on

Wont be long now lets see how many votes his party gets next time just like every other minor party that has come along

It amazes me why people feel the need to comment on his sexual preference, who cares if he is a homosexual.

He is also a good MD. I'M sure in a medial emergency you guys would be quick to ask for his help.

It must be a baby boomers thing being homophobic laughing-fish.gif

JG you are a stickler for telling people to read what you write. The 2.8m number was not I figure I posted. I have no idea how many votes he got. Does not really matter. My point was that the guy dedicated his life to a cause that we do not like but he had the smarts to use the political system as his forum with success. He did not get into the political arena without votes JG.

He won't be leading his party to the next election JG, so your comment is not valid on how many votes his party will receive.

The title of the topic is Bob Brown resigns.
