Sorry Mr. Tritton! Its not just me whinging.... Hundreds of rec anglers have signed a petiton agreeing that the region is loaded with illegal fishing, and is understaffed and inadequetly managed.
I think Fisheries officers are great and are on the side of any one who does the right thing, we just need more of them out here in the states back yard, and need to stop pretending that things are better then they really are through dodgy compliance figures being published by the department! If we pretend its all rosy, help will never arrive! Matt Hansen
I reckon if they are at Comps ,,, they should take a walk around and see what the anglers are bringing back in ,,, what I saw was disgraceful at the Classic !
been up around your way a couple of times, and have seen probably the most illegal stuff going on than any other region i have been to,a lot of the water goes through private property, fisheries have to get into the river to catch the shifty pricks,it does take a lot of time and effort for them,i understand that, and they arent always guaranteed of catching anyone, they usually check all the reserves, weirs, where they know they are more than likely to get some prosecutions, most of the real shifty poachers are in remote areas where the chances of getting caught are low

I doubt they think you are great, last thing they need is a vigelante running around breaking the law under the guise of saving the world.
hey ive got a great idea lets have a competition and invite 3500 anglers who leave crap and rubbish all over the place release fish that later float and die by the hundreds .thats saving the world.let the fisheries do what they are qualified to do and you just go and fish learn how to release fish and take your fn rubbish home
Poachers, thanks for your concern.
In clarifying a few points you have made:
1) there have been no reports of dead floating fish in there hundreds after the comp. I appreciate a few will be lost, but I'm sure you will agree its much better then a gut and gill event.
2) lake Burrendong state park has not had anything to report on any rubbish left from the comp, your clutching at straws just to have a go at me here-that indicates to me that you either work for fisheries compliance, or are close to someone who does, and you or they don't like the fact that compliance in this region is a joke, and the only way to refute my arguments is through off topic negativity.
3) the classic is 100% not for profit, we raised about $50,000 plus outside sponsership that will all be used to better out waterways through re snagging, restocking and education projects.
4) there were not 3,500 anglers at the comp, but 1079 entered. Your exaggeration concerns me also.
Three compliance officers to cover 20% of NSW is unacceptable! They can't even put a dent in it!
