Gday guys,
Just bought one of these motors 40hp 2 stroke 2 cyl to go on the back of a 4m quintrex breezeabout (late 70's)
paid $4900 Fitted brand new.
Anyone used one before what are they like price just seemed a little to good to be true for a motor with power tilt and trim and forward control. |

They are the consumer model, it is new and has a warranty. I think that they might run a little noisier and rougher* than the more expensive model but none less reliable.
I think that the three cylinder runs a little smoother*. |

rec retail is 5700 and yamaah has specials on them atm for 4991 so its normal pricing for them
the cv is a 2 cylinder 703 cc / gear ratio 2.00:1
the standard 40 is a 698cc 3 cylinder triple carbed engine gear ratio 1.85:1
and you can run digital gauges off it
and also has oil injection
being a 3 cylinder it will idle smoother |

They are a very reliable engine. Noisy, yes but it gets you out there and back home. They are a very popular motor in Fiji (enduro) and I have seen how they were neglected to the max and they would still go and go. Not a bad choice I recon. _________________ Keepin' you cruisin' |

As others have said slightly 'rougher' running than the 3 cyl models but a very reliable and simple motor that won't quit.
I used to have a 30 and loved it. |
