Fisho sorry for the late response I am still trying to find some statistics regarding capital funding even though it does not raise the figures to be comparable for funds per student not taking into account private funds it does seem that there is an inequality in grants given to public schools compared to private schools these grants are used for improving facilities at schools the Gonski review recommends more government grants to public schools.
As for the figures there is a reason Australia’s Constitution gives the States and Territories regulatory and funding responsibility for government schooling. The States and Territories also provide supplementary assistance to non government schools. The
Australian Government is the primary source of public funding for
non government schools and provides supplementary assistance to
government schools.
You claimed that public school students were missing out because of funding given to private schools. Would you like to provide the figure of how much extra money the govt would need to provide to private schools to bring the per student funding up to par? I'm guessing you'll keep hiding behind "i can't find the facts"?

No extra money should be contributed to private schools. Parents are prepared to pay extra to send their children to private schools they get a lesser portion of the total funds.
Private schools should get the same funding, per student, as public schools. The extra contributions, put in by parents is a bonus to maybe give ya kid a better education. BTW, I and all my family are public scholars. I think if your parents are confident that you may benefit from a private schooling, at their considerable expense, that is the risk they take. I'm sure a lot of private students end up as useless turds, bludging their way through life.

i'm not suggesting that extra funds should be funneled from the public system to the private system, i'm simply showing that those educated within the private system are significantly less of a burden on the tax payer than those educated within the public system. YOU were claiming that if the funds directed to the private system were put into the public system that somehow there would be a better educational outcome for $$$$ spent. I'm pretty sure i've countered that argument so it leaves you to either admit you were wrong, provide some other details that have not yet been posted here or run away with your tail between your legs unwilling to admit you were wrong. Which is it?
Seems some one is after some self gratification. Private schools get more money in federal funding and more money for capital works to improve infrastructure that allows them to spend more income on students than public schools. Yes you are correct that in money per student public schools recieve more in state government funding but public schools run on a lower income taking into account school fees and private donations.
If there was a system in place for some government schools with a user pay setup where the government subsidises than government grants used for private schools property would be used for public assets.

Just because the Labor Government [YOU KNOW, the dysfunctional group of self-serving-power-hungry-incompetent-morons-who-have-never-worked-at-real-jobs-couldnt-give-a-stuff-about-the-public-except-to-tax-us-dont-understand-business-couldnt-organise-a-root-in-a-brothel, except one of them] doesn't own the schools does NOT for a second mean they have no value as an asset to the community.
The Socialist view that all things must be owned and run by Government .... well the Soviets did the experiment along with a lot of Eastern Europe and in 1989 the results were spectacularly clear ... worst living standards of any developed nations, worst economies, greatest abuses of human rights, greatest social problems blah blah blah. Or as my 10 year old would say ... EPIC FAIL.
Deal with reality - Labor can't run anything and the less that Government's try to do on our behalf the better. That includes education. _________________
