Hi All,

Thought I would send through a report on our trip to lake Purrumbete on the weekend. Sorry no pics but they would only have been of landscape/ lakescape anyway as we really didn't catch anything of note.

Started Sat morn in the dark drag netting Lake Wurdi Buloc for bait, we struggled a bit but got 20 or so minnow and headed down to Purrumbete.

Put the boat in and couldn't start (dead battery - cursed my mates old man who we borrowed the tinnie from), but I had a portable battery I use to run a hunting spotlight on me and after some fumbling around with numb hands it was connected and did the trick.

Trolled flatlines (combo of divers, jensen insect and tassies) for zip but anchored up later in the morning for 5 respectable reddies on live minnow. Reddies were really only sucking on the minnow and judging by the sounder there were heaps down there but not really in a feeding mood as we only managed the 5. Pretty good fish though of 500gms. This was in 15m water. Fish would not touch a jig, vibe or sp.

Had a baitfish in the arvo for only a few little reddies this time.

Next morning in glorious overcast calm conditions we trolled a lap of the lake for one good hit on a tassie that threw the hooks a few seconds after.

Great spot to relax and have a few cans with the boys, had the camping site to ourselves.

Gday Mattg
Yer the lake can be like that, its either on or off.
Ive had fishless trips like that.
Although it may have something to do with its nearly spawning time and they switch off. Although the really cant spawn, they still get the urge.
But a great place to visit.
