|
|
Hi all, I have just purchased a Pflueger Arbor reel in the 30 size and need a rod to mount it on. My intention is to flick light lures and SP's in both salt and fresh water. Am after a light outfit as apparently I have enough med and heavy units already Will spool up with 6lb? Power Pro and chase lake trout and reddies. (and river when season reopens) I dont do enough fresh water fishing so want an outfit to suit. Will also use it landbased salt and boat. Was gunna go for red braid so as to see it when casting in the rivers etc (thoughts?). So what length rod (would prefer one piece), and what line rating would best suit, Brand etc. Also noticed some rods have a large diameter first guide, some dont also some guides over and under bound some not ?? which is best ? |

Pflueger Partiarch PPS68ML-XF, 3-5kg-keep it in the family......
Very nice rod, single footed fuji silicon guides, fuji reel seat, perfect match for the reel and a fair price-think I paid $180 for mine. Its a fairly stiff rod which I use for my heavier spinner baits and larger surface lures, mine is matched to a shimano 2500 sustain with 6lb fireline exceed on one spool and 12lb on the other......
For really light plastics maybe have a look at the gloomis GL2 8500LESP, 2-6lb...really nice rod, lighter than the partiarch, bit more whip which helps with light jig heads. This one cost under $200-cant remember exactly how much as I bought a couple of reels and some other bits on the same day. |

I reckon you can't go past a pflueger trion for price , you can pick them up for around $100 if u really look around.
I have the 7 foot 2 to 4 kg with a 2000 luvias and 8 pnd power pro braid and I chase mainly pinkies and salmon with it also Redfin and trout from the kayak.
Does it easy.
You can go a little heavier to a 2 to 5 kg rod but you will loose sensitivity.
I also have a pflueger patriarch in 2 to 4 kg 6'8 ft long with a 2500 ci4 Stradic and it's one of the lightest outfits I have ever used.
The only problem is they cost more then double then the trion. |

| Thanks Gozz, I do have a Pflueger Trion 3-6kg mated with a Pflueger Supreme XT 4000 loaded with 15lb Power Pro. Great heavier rod, so will definatley look at the Trion 2-4kg. |
