Hi All, Interested to find out what fuel people use in their Etec's Do you run regular unleaded or Premium? Please dont turn this into an Etec bashing exercise! The Etec is a 115 on a Skeeter.
Cheers and i await your replies |

| I use unleaded for general running around but during tuna season I run premium as the service guys said it wound burn a little hotter and reduce fumes while trolling. Hope this helps |

| The oil smell makes the missus seasick and the higher burn temp is suppose to help sorry not a mechanic. Trust me during tuna season the fuel won't last long enough to go off |

Yes higher octane premium type fuels do burn hotter but this is not really a good thing and no additional benefits or advantage over standard type fuel. Recommended fuel when these engines were released was 89 octane and ULP is 91.
As for fuel going off it really makes little difference, all fuel goes off and at least these days the fuel companies admit to the limited life. _________________ ** Tomorrow is another day .... oh joy .... what great responses will that bring **

I have a 115 h/o etec on my skeeter. Usually run regular unleaded, never ethanol blend. I have had vortex 98 in the tank a few times as a mate in a servo said it will last longer before going off????
Anyway I wouldnt worry too much about fumes at trolling speed in your boat, they are generally not known for going slow |

| Standard ULP in the 115HP and get around 1.8k to the litre. Does not seem to vary the economy much at all from around 3,500 to 5,500 RPM as it stays around the same 1.8 k to the litre. |
