It is a well known fact that many of the original haines moulds and especially the americian based formula moulds were "acquired" by others which as it turned out was formally ruled as illegal but the horse had already bolted and subsequently following on from this there was a steady stream of formula replica's (and other haines models) that were claimed not to have any connection but the sales blurb and names over the many years were obviously meant to imply they had formula heritage.

There is this very sticky hanging on to the numbers 233 with many being inbreeds out of moulds that were "acquired" and technically owned as money had changed hands but on designs they had absolutely no rights to produce.

Anyway hindsight is such a wonderful thing and many would know bits and pieces of the actual timeline from when haines lost the original moulds.

So anybody have the complete timeline of who, when, where and what followed on the bloodline (including all inbreds) based on some of the original "acquired" moulds?

Put it all down on paper for prosterity before the memory fades, history is lost and the facts become a little blurred.

No, not at all.

I know there is a project underway and that a lengthy article is being produced.

On the other hand, you haven't answered the question, so the question is what do you have to hide or is this just another fishing contest wink-fish.gif

Anybody who answers a question with a question then another question typically has another agenda or trying to throw smoke.

There appears some double standards in this regard, putting forward all the hoo-haa as disguised advertising with all the blurb yet when it comes down to the nitty gritty become very defensive and really wish they could run a million miles an hour the opposite direction.

So no point anybody prattling on around the edges, if you have nothing to add or want to play secret squirrel most will read into that what they will laughing-fish.gif

Now a simple question has become hypocrytical, hey people ask question all the time, what is it you don't like about questions or is it a bit too close to the bone for you wink-fish.gif

It's all about info buddy, do you have any or don't you want to say?

Come on there's a heap of people wanting to know the same story but the more you throw smoke the more it's going to become very obvious you have something to hide confused-fish.gif

Kerry, I don't have anything to hide and if I did, I certainly wouldn't have said anything at all.

As mentioned, I am aware of individuals who are currently collecting information for an article they are producing. Not me!

There has already been a bunch of articles written and released on the history of Haines Hunter. I don't think anybody outside of the Haines family will ever know the full story.

As for the 233, from what I understand, Haines Hunter were manufacturing under license to Formula in the US for a period of time. The boat was identical to the Formula 233 in every way, at least in its external appearance. If I'm not mistaken the stickers applied to these boat had no reference to Haines Hunter, the simply stated Formula 233 and Australian flag only.

At some stage, Haines Hunter modified the design (possibly above water line only). In the main, the changes were subtle and not immediately apparent to those that had limited knowledge of the boat. At that stage, the stickers were also changed and showed Haines Hunter V233 but cannot confirm.

As for the 233 molds, it is understood they were purchased by others post 1980, in other words after the Haines Hunter had been taken over. Again I doubt we will ever know the details of the deal that was done.

It's also fair to assume that several flops of the boat were made by others. Researching those is more difficult as in most cases, the molds have changed hands several times, the history is lost or has been purposely hidden.
