Goulburn Fishing Festival to lure anglers of all ages
The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) and the Eildon community will be hosting the Goulburn Fishing Festival on Friday, August 31 and Saturday, September 1 at Eildon, coinciding with the opening of the trout season.
Fisheries Victoria Executive Director Anthony Hurst said the two day festival was an ideal opportunity for families to visit the Eildon region and discover the terrific fishing on offer.
“The festival kicks off on Friday evening with a fishing expo at the Community Centre, showcasing fishing tackle and equipment displays, local produce temptations, fly tying demonstrations plus a range of guest speakers,” Mr Hurst said.
“There will be fishing and accommodation prizes and giveaways during the entire festival and the chance to learn how to cook your catch with professional cooking demonstrations.
“Saturday will have a hands-on fish focus, with fish stocking and fishing at the Eildon Pondage, plus fishing activities for children.
“A highlight on Saturday includes guided tours of DPI’s Snobs Creek fish hatchery.
“Snobs Creek is set to become one of the largest native and trout fish production facilities in Australia and the aim of the tour is to showcase our upgraded fish production facilities.
“Whether you’ve never fished before or have been doing it for years, this festival will be a wonderful way to spend some time together as a family, enjoying the picturesque Eildon area and the free activities.”
