A few boats are planning a trip up to Jervis bay area late Febuary 2008,and are after any info/expieriences in alternative roads to that destination and road conditions.starting in gippsland Vic,has anyone gone up the monaro Hwy,turning off at Cann river,or is going up the coast the go via Eden etc.Reason i ask is maybe away from the coast may be less hilly etc, cutting down on road time etc,,{have travelled that way to Bermi}..Any thoughts /info/past expieriences,,,greatly appriciated.,,{towing 18/19ft boats}..Cheers
Wayne, I think you will find via the coast might still be the best option from Gippsland. Overtaking lanes might be few & far between, but the hills are alot more car friendly. The problem with heading inland is that all the roads that come down the Great Dividing Range are interesting to say the least when towing.
If you can leave the trip until March, you might have better luck with the weather. February can be really bad for week long 30 kt Nor'Easters, plus the water is usually still running warm in March.
Funny you want to come up all that way. I live in Sydney, and used to drive down to Bermy for the 'fin season. JB is 2.5 hours drive so it can cop alot of Sydney fisho's. Guess the grass is always greener....
Regards Dave
Thanks Dave for your info,,,i did suspect the hills etc getting back to the coast were a major concern, but i thought i'd throw the question in anyway..We plan on heading up that way in early March, and again to Bermi in May chasing the Fin..Havn't fished further than Bermi North,so thought we'd try something different. Cheers.
