Not just in OZ mate. Most of the Formula 233 copies in the US are outboard fitted these days.

It's all comes down to deck/fishing space Nick. Unfortunately inboards (as much as I like them) take up way too much space!

Albemarle (another Formula copy) come up with a practical solution to that. Their 24 footer has the inboard mounted amidships and connected to the outdrive via a jack shaft. Their larger boats (26 up) typically have 2 inboards mounted almost directly under the skipper and passenger seats. In The floor is raised approx 6-8 inches to accommodate them.

I'll refrain from posting pics as this is an Aronow thread after all. Great boat though.

Regards,
Spiro

Yes, Doug Grant put me onto the Albemarle site. Good setup although the floor level looks quite high (to enable the jackshaft) so freeboard suffers.

Nice boats though.

For and mid decks are raised. Freeboard not compromised at all...as far as I can tell anyways.

Regards,
Spiro

Spiro,

take a squiz at the pics of the 242CC on the Albemarle site. Theres a shot with 3 blokes at the rear. 1 at the helm and 2 facing rearward. The gunwales show quite low.

Cheers

Hard t say, that bloke could be 8" tall laughing-fish.gif laughing-fish.gif

Seriously, not sure about the cc versions as I have no particular interest in those. The others (cuddies or runabouts for us) look to be same as a Formula 233.

No worries nick. Sometimes the only thing you can do is a screen grab, then save as a jpg. Or, if you haven't a screen grab program, go to print, save as pdf, open in preview then convert to jpg. Well, thats on my mac anyway. PC would be a different way.

That sure does look low too!!
