Hi
I haven't been there yet this season but I have fished a lot of the upper sections.
Try Frenchmans Creek camp ground as a starting point either fish upstream or walk dow the main road to the next camp ground and you will have a full days fishing back to the camp ground a Frenchmans creek.
As for flies take some Humpies and Wuulfs along with Stimulator patterns these will need to be #14 or smaller.
If you prefer nymphs brown and black bh nymphs in #14 and smaller will do well.
At this time of the year dries would probably do best, hope you have some fun.
Oh and the best way in is through Warburton and turn off at Reefton and up the Mountain.
At the top turn right and take the next road off to the left, there is a road that goes off to the left in a fork in the road a few kms in,stay to the right the road is quite accessable by a sedan just don't drive too fast |

| Thanks for the response. Have just came back and your information would have been great. Did camp at frenchmans creek and caught one large brown in the creek. Struggled to catch anything in big river. Maybe just due to inexperience as there was plenty of action late in the day. |
