Quiet on the re-build front.
Binnacle top mount arrived today...just didn't realise what a big unit it is but will make life easier....
"Saved at least $400 give or take a few sheckles"
Every thing is plug and go from what I can see so that's another head ache removed...
Well a couple of head aches removed from myself and principles at 'Criby1 re-fit centre'..laughing-fish.gif

Poly Core is on the way for the 'cab walls' so maybe another photo shoot at the end of the week wink-fish.gif

Regards Steve.

Did a bit of a 'recon' to Hastings today and cut a few holes and gave myself a look see into the future...well the helms future any way.
Once again forgot the Kodax but "DURRRRRRRRRR" I do have a phone.
So this is today's effort.

Cut out Binnacle template and semi attached the top mount.
Added the SS Wheel and tentatively arranged the Sounder and GPS at "my comfort positions".wink-fish.gif
With regards to these items a new above dash sloping enclosed Sounder/GPS only addition will be moulded to give 'in dash fitting' of the units.

Below the 'top mount' will be a 'triangular prism' shape 650mm or so high from the floor with a face of around 500mm giving an angled corner for control cables and steering to follow the now very shallow angle.
A sunken top with a depth to be determined will give close handy storage for Mobiles/Sunny's/Stubby laughing-fish.gif and 'car keys'. Sort of a side top entry glove box.

The 'masking tape' X shows rough height of corner panel/triangular prism that will be moulded in under the top mount.

Directly below 'top mount' will have 'start/choke' key switches with single 'dual function 'kill switch' and 'lanyard' to knock out both engines at once..(the 'mated pair of original control boxes had (2) which never really sat right with that of an emergency stop switch.

Waited today for poly-cell sheets to arrive but no show so this is not an update as such but went to Hastings today and had a play around with a couple of things all for a quicker progress once fit-up is started.
Fire extinguisher security for one and my probably "never to be used" out-riggers.
Also took a couple of snaps of what might of been.

Fire ext is very secure but can be ripped out of holder easily in an emergency

Dash had a mid section cut which will gel back into place once internal width is determined
With doorway taking up a large section and Sounder/GPS console overlapping along dash top the re-join will be very small in length.

Out-rigger brackets are located and cos I could I put up the poles.
For me not really a must have but they are there.
Nothing flash and at 15' probably too long but what the I have them and will make great Squid Poles.. laughing-fish.gif laughing-fish.gif laughing-fish.gif

Now I was checking out the 'scrap pile' and had a bit of a heart pulp.
My old fuel tanks....Regardless as to the demise of the transom and all!! This little discovery gave me a chill.
Next photos will "tell all" angry-fish.gif angry-fish.gif angry-fish.gif angry-fish.gif

My 'time bomb'

'What should'

'What should not'

"Get the gist"??

Regards Steve.

Bit of tongue in cheek about the poles really....Just never got into it but I never really had an inkling to try but it's not dismissed....It will happen probably sooner than I think.

If you start to enjoy a bit of game fishing you will end up changing that set up.

"Got it now"

Seems I jumped the gun on the poles without ever looking at just where and why they are set up as others have them.
Will just have to get the holes plugged and just wait until the boat is finished before running off and boring holes for equipment I know 'jack' about.
Sorry A&A but I've given you another job.

Can't fill in the gaps at the moment as the Boys are off site for a couple of day's but should have a little sighter come Friday.
Core cell/Poly cell sheets should be waiting for us at the shop so come tomorrow when I venture down, maybe just maybe we will be past the 'template' stage of the cab.
With regards to windows I'm leaning towards 'frame less recessed' glass for the front (3) and 'poly carb' for the sides.....
Later down the track these (side screens) may be replaced with 'framed sliders'..way down the track laughing-fish.gif
Windscreen Washer bottles and pumps have arrived making my 'vision' laughing-fish.gif of Wipers up front a clear reality.
Consensus from comments on 'Out Riggers' has shown that I jumped the gun so to speak in fitting them up.
Will be filling the mess and waiting until completion before attempting a re-fit with already a group of 'Gamers' willing to assist...I thank them.

Regards Steve.

Quiet on the firecat front'
Went down and did a bit of fiddle farting around as the Boys had a few other jobs to tidy up but there's always something I can amuse my self doing.

Wired in my 'Steve's' winch and secured conduits for further wiring into the cab. Pulled through the rear bilge wires.
Hunted out buried transducer wires and forward bilge wiring that was still hidden behind moulded fast wall still in place up forward.
Re the winch pic's these couple show were I increased the 'slot' between the forward bulkhead and anchor well so that my hands will fit to access 'free-fall' trigger and maybe sort the rope/chain out should it bunch up in the centre...hasn't yet but there's always a may be.

The 'Braid rope' plaited into the chain is to quieten the chain rattle...
Simply it's 10mm Double Braid with the centre braid pulled out and plaited through each link...
A pain to do but works a treat.

Forgot to mention the Red is a length of 'flat braid' also plaited in (1 metre) from anchor swivel to give a 'sighter' before anchor rushes over the sprit.
