Steve how do the motors mount ?on pods ? or is there a pic back at the start of the thread somewhere?
"Just like this SB".
Only differences are 'no rot, no transom fittings, no scuppers, no engine well, no 4.9 sticker and no Commodore'.
Regards Steve.
It really doesn't look like they can from the pictures!
That new transom doesnt have a lip for them to bolt on to/over.
It's just a flat face with an over 90 defree corner? How would do yiu mount the steering cylinders? Will the outboards be mounted on to brackets or have the mounts modified?

"No they dont They can't.

"Unless they are modified engine mounts which are just a plate to bolt directly onto the face."
"Ok sawtell13 it's not my boat and I'm a bullshit artist and and they can't".
"Transom fittings are 'transducers, water pick ups, berley buckets, scuppers, handrails and what ever other junk we destroy the integrity of the transom.....'not engine bolts'".
"No modified engine mounts,No lip"
"What do you need a 'lip' for anyway"??
"Conventionally you bolt through the ransom which is all this is doing.
The motors don't hang on the 'lip' if your motor heights are set correctly"
"And should the worst happen and the steering linkage touches the 'Engine Splash Well' (invented descriptive name for firecats non existent engine well and 'lip'.)
I will put Mercury choke collars inside lift ram that reduce 'tilt height'."
Regards Steve.

Sorry read my secondary post I tried to edit it after I read how rude it sounded.
Doesn't your old transom have a lip just looked like it did in your older pictures? What I was saying is that generally the steering tube assembly will sit below the top of the mounting bracket, wouldn't the motors be sitting very high and un supported with out a lip behind.

I wasn't meaning to have a go at you.
I know...you couldn't edit as I'd already jumped on your post and had it in "quote" mode on my screen........got to be quick..
The 'steering tube' is actually in the 'Hook'.
My motors actually mount 60mm higher that the norm and the 'hooks' are redundant, as they are on most properly set up motors.
No engine well takes away all the water ingress locations so the transom from deck to keel is one water tight vessel.
Only fittings through the 50mm thick laminated transom are ( engine bolt holes and (4) glass coated bilge plug holes.
Gone to heaven are 2 metres of aluminium cover strip,(2) engine well drain plugs.......all stinking areas for water to enter transom.
the no lip set up had me wonderin but you 2 have explained it thanx Alex and Steve _________________ If it sounds too good to be true, its because

Looks good in that you have ditched the traditional well which is always collecting slop.
One Q - are you running 2 hour meters? Why not ditch one and mount the other lower down the bulkhead (being a rarely used guage) freeing up more dash space for other goodies like a multi-battery volt/ammeter.

That is an interesting transom setup Steve.

You have read my mind.
Had this discussion at the weekend and the Hr meters (2) will be positioned as you say "lower down the bulkhead" and I do have (3) 'volt meters' that I may indeed locate on the dash with 'momentary' switches that let you see whats what at the "press of a button".
The opinions on all sorts of things that come out of these threads helps put a 'from out side looking in' perspective on the re-build.
Thanks and don't hold back cos it's still a little way off yet.
You prob seen these units but in case you haven't CruzPro and BEP do multi-bank voltmeters which can monitor multiple batteries. At one stage BEP also had one with an ammeter in it as well so you could monitor house battery charge and discharge rates. Not sure if they still make it though as they seem to be now making some uber complex NMEA interface type setup with different monitoring and display modules and no doubt a $$$ price to match.
