Fishnet Article Guidelines
Writing an article for Fishnet

Fishnet's primary objective is to provide a site where almost any fishing or boating related question can be answered from the comprehensive range of articles and tips found within the site. We appreciate that the knowledge and experience of our members is our strength and as such we are very keen to provide an avenue for our members to pass on their invaluable knowledge in the form of an article which will be published nationally and internationally on Fishnet.com.au.

The subject of the article can range from fishing, boating, camping or 4WD techniques and tips, through to adventure stories, holiday locations, political editorials, new knots and rigs, product reviews, etc. Basically anything of interest to do with fishing and the outdoors.

The article needs to be written in clear plain English and should have a beginning, middle and end. Think about what your writing and don't be afraid to re-read your text several times, the end result of any written piece is always better after it's been self edited for clarity and read-ability. Avoid jargon, repeating yourself and stay on the subject. Always think about the intended readers and what information they are going to glean from your article.

Submitting an article

An article should be between 500 and 2,000 words in length with 1,000 words the ideal size. Photos or other images such as maps and diagrams are also useful and should be in .jpg or .gif format and be no larger than 100k. The images must be sized in accordance with Fishnet's photo guidelines found in the Image Gallery. The text should be written on a word document, spell and grammar checked and then sent along with any photos/images as an attachment via email to the editor@fishnet.com.au.

It is recommended that any members wishing to write an article enquire with the editor beforehand to ensure the topic is of interest to our readers. This however does not guarantee that the finished article will be accepted by the editor, as Fishnet reserves the right to accept or reject any articles submitted.

So if you're a budding fishing writer or just want to record for prosperity your fishing trip of a lifetime, get typing, and mostly importantly feel good in the knowledge that your information may help someone else get the most out of their fishing experiences!
