ACTIVITY REPORTS

the local mechanic diagnosed a burnt valve. Lofty, who was a passenger in Greg's "Cruiser", then stepped up and offered to return to Adelaide with Greg to return the Cruiser and pick up Lofty's truck. The boat was left at Pt Wakefield with Rob S standing guard and the trip continued when the truck returned.

Max Grund had also towed his boat as far as Pt Wakefield when he realized he had a bearing problem on the trailer. This was fixed and the crew continued on towards Pt Aug. Unfortunately a mistake in the reassembly caused further problems. Klaus, who was following Max at the time provided, not only transport back to Pt Wakefield for another replacement bearing, but liquid refreshments that pleased all concerned. MEETING REPORT

The general theme of the reports from members for the last two months was that apart from the successful Pt Aug. trip things have been very quiet all over the usual areas fished by the Group. Reports from Darwin were no different.

R the T reported that at last things were beginning to pick up at Pt Broughton. This reflected the general tone of media fishing reports.

The meeting also discussed the need to recognize that the expense incurred in taking a boat out is not just the cost of the fuel. Members who are invited to fish in other members boats should ensure that the boat owner is compensated for these additional costs.

Members were advised that if they take a trip to Kangaroo Island they should ensure they take a yabbie net with them. Many large Maron have escaped their dams and are living in the local creeks.

The meeting thanked Col F for arranging a wheel chair for Eddie H. Eddie has an electric wheel chair that would be impossible for our members to take with him on fishing trips. The new chair Col has organized for him will allow Eddie to be much more involved in future. Great work Col!!!

PORT AUGUSTA

This years Pt Aug. trip was our most successful of our 5 trips so far. (See Mick's report on the Kingfish Capture) Over the years we have learnt that catching Kingfish is always a combined effort and this years trip only emphasized that message.

Even from the trip up we were experiencing this need. This year there were only two boats but both towing teams experienced mechanical problems that were overcome with teamwork. Greg B had towed his boat as far as Pt Wakefield when he realized that all was not well. A visit to

Max & Mick with our new record Kingie

undertaken without mishap. These incidents emphasized the need for teamwork.

Whilst at Pt Aug there were more members than seats on boats and it was again the co-operation between members that allowed a simple rotation system that ensured all received an equal share of  fishing time.
